President Yahya Jammeh Pardons over 250 Prisoners

President of the Republic of The Gambia His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya A.J.J Jammeh Babili Mansa in exercise of his prerogative of mercy has pardoned over 250 convicts in the country’s prisons, imprisoned within the period 1994 to 2013. This was on the occasion of the celebration in Banjul of the 21st anniversary of the July 22nd Revolution.

President Embarks on Agricultural Tour

The President of the Republic of The Gambia is currently on a nationwide tour to assess firsthand the progress of dry season agricultural activities and the state of preparedness for rainy season cultivation in the context of The Gambia’s food self-sufficiency drive.

President Jammeh has declared 2016 as the target year for rice self-sufficiency. The Vision 2016 launched in 2013, not only serves as a catalyst for the eradication of hunger, but also will ensure that Gambians depend on homegrown produce for their own wellbeing.

European Union Celebrates Europe Day

The European Union on May 9, 2015 celebrated Europe Day in the presence of the Honourable Neneh Macdouall-Gaye, Minister of Foreign Affairs at the EU residence.

In her remarks on the occasion Minister Macdouall-Gaye observed that the EU has succeeded in providing its 29 member states with the right platform to collectively work together in marshalling resources and political will to resolve their common problems and contribute to the search for sustainable peace and development.

Minister Appeals For Electoral Assistance To Boost Democracy

Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, has urged the Ecowas Fact-Finding
Mission team  in The Gambia to support the parliamentary electoral
process in a bid to ensure consolidation of democracy the country is
enjoying.

The Gambia and Thailand to Cooperate in Development Projects

On the sidelines of the Asian-African Summit, Minister Macdoaull-Gaye met General Tanasak Patimapragorn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand.

Both Ministers expressed the desire to strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two countries. The Thai Foreign Minister expressed his desire to share with The Gambia, Thailand’s success stories especially in agriculture, agro processing, tourism and handicraft, alternative/low cost building techniques.

Foundation stone of new Foreign Office building laid

The president of the Republic Tuesday laid the foundation stone of a new state-of-the-artoffice complex to house the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at a ceremony held at Marina Parade in Banjul.
