The Directorate of Asia and Oceania was a creation undertaken at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad to transform the Ministry from the functional model to that of a Regional/Geographical consideration. The Directorate is entrusted with promoting as well as deepening relations, bilateral and multilateral with countries that have diplomatic ties with the Republic of the Gambia.
The Directorate is also responsible for the coordination, planning and implementation of bilateral and multilateral cooperation agreements between the Republic of The Gambia and countries in this region. These include coordination and facilitation of participation of various sectors of Government in Joint Commissions with our partners.
The Asia and Oceanic Directorate also advises Government accordingly on appropriate Strategies and relevant areas of cooperation to enable The Gambia access development assistance from such countries and their development bodies
