𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐉𝐔𝐋, 𝟏𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓: On Tuesday, November 4th, the Government of The Republic of The Gambia, represented by H.E. Ambassador Masanneh N. Kinteh, and the Korea-Africa Foundation (KAF), led by President Kim Young-chae, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the KAF office in Seocho-gu, Seoul. The MOU was signed on the margins of the Korea-Africa Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM), under the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, with a focus on capacity building, youth empowerment, trade promotion, and the enhancement of The Gambia’s digital infrastructure. Through this agreement, both parties will collaborate in areas including: ▪Youth employment and skills development ▪Promotion of trade and investment ▪Support for digital transformation and improved public services ▪Capacity building and knowledge exchange A central aim of the partnership is to strengthen bilateral digital cooperation, including creating networks between Korean and Gambian enterprises to support The Gambia’s digital transition. This MOU reflects The Gambia and Korea’s commitment to practical collaboration for mutual growth, reinforcing solidarity and sustainable development between the two nations.

Cheikh Niang, Minister for African Integration, Foreign Affairs and Senegalese Abroad, to The Gambia for an official visit reaffirming the strong ties between our two nations.

Sering Modou Njie, recently held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to The Gambia, H.E. Dolores Ríos Peset, at his office in Banjul. The meeting, which took place on 13th September 2025, provided an opportunity for both sides to reaffirm the close and enduring partnership between The Gambia and Spain. Their discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in key areas of mutual interest. Ambassador Ríos Peset commended the strong bonds of friendship between the two nations, describing the partnership as long-standing and mutually beneficial. Minister Njie expressed gratitude for Spain’s steadfast support to The Gambia, particularly in development and migration-related initiatives. Both parties pledged to continue working together to deepen bilateral ties and promote the shared values of solidarity, respect, and cooperation that underpin the relationship between The Gambia and the Kingdom of Spain.

Banjul, 13th October 2025 Ministry of Foreign Affairs Launches Short Intensive Diplomatic Training Programme for Junior staff and Interns Under the Leadership of Honorable Minister Sering Modou Njie The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad has launched a Short Intensive Training Course for junior staff and Interns, designed to enhance the professional and academic development of staff serving within the Ministry. The initiative, introduced under the leadership of Honourable Njie, Minister of Foreign Affairs, aims to bridge the gap between academic study and the practical realities of diplomatic service. The two -week programme, developed by Dr. Alieu Manjang of the Middle East Directorate, provides interns with a structured introduction to diplomacy, international relations, and the operational framework of the Ministry. It seeks to strengthen participants’ understanding of diplomatic practice, protocol, official communication, negotiation, and intercultural competence, all key skills required for a successful career in foreign service. Throughout the training period, participants will engage in interactive lectures, simulations, and practical exercises such as mock negotiations, protocol planning, and diplomatic writing sessions, guided by senior officials and experienced diplomats. The training also includes panel discussions with representatives from the Ministry’s various departments to give trainees firsthand exposure to the functions and responsibilities of the institution. Speaking at the launch, officials underscored the Ministry’s commitment to capacity building and professional mentorship as a cornerstone of sustainable institutional growth. The programme reflects Minister Njie’s vision of cultivating a new generation of competent and ethically grounded diplomats capable of representing The Gambia’s interests with excellence on the global stage. BANJUL, 13th October 2025: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad is pleased to announce that His Excellency Professor Muhammadou M.O. Kah, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of The Gambia to the Swiss Confederation and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), the World Trade Organization (WTO), and other international organizations in Switzerland, has been appointed as a member of the United Nations Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) Safeguards Strategic Advisory Board for 2025. Ambassador Kah was selected in recognition of his extensive expertise in digital governance, artificial intelligence, and data innovation. In this capacity, he will contribute to advancing the development and global adoption of safe, inclusive, and trusted digital public infrastructure worldwide. The DPI Safeguards Strategic Advisory Board stewarded by the UN Office for Digital and Emerging Technologies (ODET) in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) provides independent, high-level guidance on the adoption, country-level implementation, and long-term evolution of the Universal DPI Safeguards Framework. Composed of distinguished global experts, the Board seeks to: Advise on governance and strategic partnerships to ensure safeguards-by-default in DPI ecosystems; Promote wide dissemination and awareness of the Framework’s principles and impact; and Support national implementation efforts in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Acting as a catalyst, custodian, and advocate for DPI safeguards, the Board plays a vital role in mobilizing stakeholders, addressing emerging digital risks, and promoting inclusive, secure, and responsible digital transformation. This appointment follows an invitation extended by Mr. Amandeep Singh Gill, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Special Envoy for Digital and Emerging Technologies, and Mr. Robert Opp, Chief Digital Officer of UNDP, in recognition of Ambassador Kah’s exemplary contributions to transformative digital initiatives serving the public interest.   END
