Guinea Bissau Ambassador Pays Courtesy Call on Foreign Minister Njie

BANJUL, 13th August 2025: On Wednesday, 6th August 2025, the Ambassador of the Republic of Guinea Bissau to The Gambia, His Excellency Luis Camara de Barros, paid a courtesy call on the Honorable Sering Modou Njie, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad. Ambassador Camara de Barros congratulated Minister Njie on his recent appointment and conveyed his government’s best wishes for success in his new role. During their discussions, Minister Njie reaffirmed The Gambia’s commitment to further strengthening the longstanding ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Minister Njie expressed appreciation for Guinea Bissau’s support in regional initiatives and looked forward to deepening collaboration for the benefit of the peoples of both nations.

FM Njie Holds Diplomatic Meetings with EU, Chinese, and German Ambassadors

BANJUL, 13th August 2025: The Honorable Sering Modou Njie, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, on Tuesday, 5th August 2025, held series of courtesy meetings with Her Excellency Immaculada Roca I Cortés, Ambassador of the European Union to The Gambia; His Excellency Mr. Liu Jin, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China; and His Excellency Klaus Botzet, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany. Meeting with Ambassador Roca I Cortés, Minister Njie expressed The Gambia’s deep appreciation for the EU’s longstanding partnership and broad-based support in governance, economic growth, education, energy access, migration, agriculture, and security sector reform. Both sides reaffirmed their shared vision for a democratic, peaceful, and prosperous Gambia, while exploring further cooperation in job creation, climate adaptation, legal migration pathways, and the lifting of visa restrictions. In a discussions with Ambassador Liu Jin, Minister Njie thanked him for China’s continued support in infrastructure, health, education, agriculture, and human resource development. The two sides reviewed existing cooperation and identified new opportunities to strengthen bilateral relations for the mutual benefit of both countries and their peoples. During his meeting with Ambassador Botzet, Minister Njie highlighted the strong partnership between The Gambia and Germany, particularly in governance reform, vocational training, renewable energy, and migration management. They discussed expanding collaboration in trade, investment, climate action, and youth empowerment. Minister Njie underscored that these engagements reflect The Gambia’s commitment to nurturing constructive diplomatic ties, which play a vital role in advancing national development priorities and fostering mutual understanding with international partners.

BANJUL, 27th March 2025: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad wishes to inform the public, particularly Gambian nationals residing in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, that it has been closely monitoring developments concerning Gambian migrants in the country with utmost concern and keen interest. In light of this, and in consideration of the strong bilateral ties between The Gambia and Mauritania, His Excellency Mr. Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia, has today dispatched His Excellency Dr. Mamadou Tangara, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, as a Special Envoy to his brother, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

FM Tangara Receives Credentials of Qatari Ambassador

His Excellency Dr. Mamadou Tangara, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, received Copies of Letters of Credence of the newly appointed Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of The Gambia, His Excellency Muhammad Ali Salim Ali Al-Kawari. In receiving the credentials, Foreign Minister Tangara warmly welcomed and congratulated the newly appointed Ambassador and commended Qatar for successfully hosting the World Cup 2022. Fm Tangara acknowledged the previous Ambassador and his team’s amazing efforts. The Foreign Minister assured Ambassador Al-Kawari of Gambia’s continuous support. He also assured him of his open-door policy to collaborate and strengthen the diplomatic relations between the two states. Ambassador Al-Kawari extended the greetings of Qatar’s Foreign Minister to his counterpart, recognizing the positive relationship between the two countries and expressing his gratitude for the support from The Gambia Government. The two diplomats interacted and reiterated the need to strengthen the ties and explore more areas of cooperation.
