𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐉𝐔𝐋, 𝟐𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓: On the sidelines of the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad of the Republic of The Gambia, Hon. Sering Modou Njie, held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of South Sudan, Hon. Ambassador Monday Semaya K. Kumba. The discussions centered on strengthening diplomatic ties and enhancing cooperation between the two countries. Both Ministers emphasized the importance of closer collaboration between their respective Ministries of Foreign Affairs, including through high-level visits and capacity-building initiatives such as training opportunities for junior diplomats. The meeting also highlighted the potential for cooperation in strategic sectors, particularly oil and mineral resources. The meeting was attended by Ms. Fatou Kinneh Jobe, Permanent Secretary II of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The Gambia, and H.E. Ambassador Victoria Samuel Aru, Ambassador of the Republic of South Sudan to Japan.

𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐉𝐔𝐋, 𝟐𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓: The Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, His Excellency Sering Modou Njie, held a meeting with Mr. ANDO Naoki, Senior Vice President for Africa at the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), on the margins of the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD-9) in Yokohama, Japan. The Foreign Minister of The Gambia commended the excellent bilateral relations between the Government of the Republic of The Gambia and the Government of Japan relations firmly anchored on mutual benefit, trust, and shared values. He expressed profound gratitude to the Government of Japan for its support to the fisheries sector, provision of safe drinking water, scholarships, and assistance to the agriculture sector. The Honourable Minister further reaffirmed the Government of The Gambia’s readiness to deepen and broaden bilateral cooperation with Japan to cover other priority areas. For his part, Mr. ANDO Naoki welcomed the Honourable Minister to Japan and expressed his appreciation for the longstanding partnership between the two countries. He underscored JICA’s significant contributions to the fisheries and agriculture sectors and reaffirmed JICA’s commitment to supporting these vital sectors. Mr. ANDO Naoki further concurred with the Honourable Minister on the importance of deepening, expanding, and diversifying bilateral cooperation into other priority areas. JICA will be embarking on studies to rehabilitate three fish markets, namely Gunjur, Tanji, and Brikama. This further demonstrates Japan’s resolve to combat food insecurity in The Gambia, contributing to human development through the promotion of sustainable development.

BANJUL, 13th August 2025: On Friday, Honorable Sering Modou Njie, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, held separate meetings with His Excellency Mr. Karl Frederick Paul, United Nations Resident Coordinator in The Gambia, and Her Excellency Mrs. Carmelina Ramírez Rodríguez, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to The Gambia. First to be received was UN Resident Coordinator Paul, who paid a courtesy call to congratulate Hon. Minister Njie on his recent appointment and to reaffirm the United Nations’ commitment to continued partnership and collaboration in advancing The Gambia’s sustainable development agenda. The two discussed ongoing UN support in areas such as governance, social protection, health, education, and climate resilience, and explored opportunities to further strengthen coordination between the UN system and the Government of The Gambia. Minister Njie then met with Ambassador Ramírez Rodríguez, with whom he reviewed the longstanding and cordial relations between The Gambia and Cuba. The Minister expressed appreciation for Cuba’s historic cooperation in health, education, and capacity building, and reaffirmed The Gambia’s readiness to deepen bilateral ties. Both sides agreed to explore new areas of collaboration for the mutual benefit of their peoples. Minister Njie underscored that these engagements reflect The Gambia’s strong commitment to maintaining productive diplomatic relations and working with international partners to achieve national development priorities.

BANJUL, 13th August 2025: On Wednesday, 6th August 2025, the Ambassador of the Republic of Guinea Bissau to The Gambia, His Excellency Luis Camara de Barros, paid a courtesy call on the Honorable Sering Modou Njie, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad. Ambassador Camara de Barros congratulated Minister Njie on his recent appointment and conveyed his government’s best wishes for success in his new role. During their discussions, Minister Njie reaffirmed The Gambia’s commitment to further strengthening the longstanding ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Minister Njie expressed appreciation for Guinea Bissau’s support in regional initiatives and looked forward to deepening collaboration for the benefit of the peoples of both nations.

BANJUL, 13th August 2025: The Honorable Sering Modou Njie, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, on Tuesday, 5th August 2025, held series of courtesy meetings with Her Excellency Immaculada Roca I Cortés, Ambassador of the European Union to The Gambia; His Excellency Mr. Liu Jin, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China; and His Excellency Klaus Botzet, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany. Meeting with Ambassador Roca I Cortés, Minister Njie expressed The Gambia’s deep appreciation for the EU’s longstanding partnership and broad-based support in governance, economic growth, education, energy access, migration, agriculture, and security sector reform. Both sides reaffirmed their shared vision for a democratic, peaceful, and prosperous Gambia, while exploring further cooperation in job creation, climate adaptation, legal migration pathways, and the lifting of visa restrictions. In a discussions with Ambassador Liu Jin, Minister Njie thanked him for China’s continued support in infrastructure, health, education, agriculture, and human resource development. The two sides reviewed existing cooperation and identified new opportunities to strengthen bilateral relations for the mutual benefit of both countries and their peoples. During his meeting with Ambassador Botzet, Minister Njie highlighted the strong partnership between The Gambia and Germany, particularly in governance reform, vocational training, renewable energy, and migration management. They discussed expanding collaboration in trade, investment, climate action, and youth empowerment. Minister Njie underscored that these engagements reflect The Gambia’s commitment to nurturing constructive diplomatic ties, which play a vital role in advancing national development priorities and fostering mutual understanding with international partners.
