𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐍𝐣𝐢𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥’𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐀𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝

𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐉𝐔𝐋, 𝟏𝟗𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔: The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, Hon. Sering Modou Njie, Permanent Secretary, Ambassador Lang Yabou and Director Swaibou Barry, this morning received in audience the Secretary of State for Senegalese Abroad of the Republic of Senegal, Mr. Amadou Cherif Diouf, at the Minister’s office in Banjul.

Mr. Diouf is in The Gambia on a working visit aimed at further strengthening cooperation on matters relating to Senegalese nationals residing abroad and migration management. He was accompanied by the High Commissioner of the Republic of Senegal to the Republic of The Gambia, H.E. Mariame Sy.

Discussions centred on the strong and historic bilateral relations between the Republic of The Gambia and the Republic of Senegal, with particular emphasis on issues of mutual interest, including migration, consular affairs, and the welfare of Senegalese and Gambian nationals residing in both countries.

Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to enhancing collaboration in addressing migration-related matters and strengthening institutional cooperation for the benefit of their respective citizens.

As part of his programme, the Secretary of State is scheduled to visit Farafenni on 20th February 2026 to meet with the large Senegalese community residing there. The visit is expected to provide an opportunity for Hon. Diouf to have direct engagement with the Senegalese community in The Gambia on their issues.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates The Gambia’s commitment to maintaining and deepening its excellent relations with the Republic of Senegal.
