Government receives support to contain spread of COVID -19

Banjul, 21st May 2020: The Government of The Gambia on Thursday afternoon received from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) an assortment of protective gears – 250,000 gloves,20,000 masks,16,000 shoe covers,6,000 sanitisers and 3600 wipes.

The gesture is part of efforts to help in the fight against COVID – 19 and to further strengthen the already cordial bilateral relations between the two countries.

An additional donation of protective gears from Jack Ma and Alibaba Foundations was received. The items were part of donations made to continental Africa.

In receiving the items on behalf of the Health Ministry, Mr.Modou Njai, director of health education and promotion, said the arrival of the items is timely, noting that it will go a long way in the fight against COVID - 19. He returned gratitude to UAE and Jack Ma Foundation for the gesture. He also commended the Foreign Ministry for efforts employed in making the donation possible.
